Helping professionals choose the right laptops under company procurement rules and avoid scams.
In January 2025 I paid 5000/- advance to a Laptop dealer to purchase a laptop. The dealer promised that he would dispatch the laptop within 1 week so I applied for Laptop advance (1.5 Lakhs) in webice. After taking the 5,000/- the dealer started to dodge my calls. 2 months later, I had to pay a penalty (at 18% per annum rate) on the 1.5 Lakh Laptop advance when it was ultimately recovered from my salary. After 3 months of intensive follow up with the Laptop dealer I was able to recover 3000/- from the 5000/- advance amount I had paid. Lesson I learnt— Not to trust Laptop dealers. Now I purchase a laptop from Amazon/Flipkart only. There are multiple benefits of ordering from these websites—
• Much better prices during sales
• Purchasing 2 years extended warranty from same OneAssist at much cheaper price
• Delivery of laptop is much quicker and more reliable than Laptop Dealers.
• Option to buy on EMI
• Can earn credit card points/cashback
After my recent experience I did detailed research on laptops available in the 1.5 Lakhs price range. There are some issues we face when buying from Amazon/Flipkart like- Extended warranty, Office 365 (if buying a Macbook). Because of these issues we rely on laptop dealers. These dealers take benefit of this and sell us a combo (Laptop + Extended warranty + useless accessories) whose combined value would be less than ₹ 1.3 Lakhs. I have figured out solutions warranty and Office 365 issues. The laptop guide page can answer most of your questions. You should go through it - it has all the details along with FAQs related to ONGC laptop purchase scheme Office orders.
For example-- 2 years extended warranty by OneAssist-ADLD is also available on Amazon- at half the price (₹ 6800/-) of what Laptop dealers are charging.
Amazon/Flipkart keep bringing sales which offer much better price. In the first few pages of attached PDF I have recommended 4-5 Laptops which are currently within our budget. Otherwise these laptops cost ₹ 1.7- 1.8 Lakhs if we buy from Laptop dealers; along with the chance of being scammed. You can go through attached PDF and you will not have to rely upon dealers to buy a great laptop. One quick read of Laptop guide page can save you ₹ 20,000+ and lot of stress.

PS: One important thing to keep in mind while ordering the laptop from Amazon is that you must use name as "ONGC AC Donald Trump CPF 123456". (Obviously change the name and CPF with your details.)
